Wind is caused by differences in the atmospheric pressure. Air moves from the higher to the lower pressure area, until the air pressure is equalized. The still air condition hence defines the moment in which this compensation has been completed. On the one hand, the still air condition helps enables a wide view on clear days, on the other hand it formes the basis for fog which might come with a total loss of visibility.

The works on transparent chiffon and acrylic foil shown in the exhibition “Still Air” combine these opposites and at the same time negotiate the balance between two or more levels similar to the air pressure distribution. In addition to clear perspectives in some areas, the lower layers remain hidden in other parts. Transparent areas allow the layers to merge. The works oscillate between the different visibilities, as if striking a balance like the wind, which is captured in the moment of still air.
