David Garneau

David Garneau (Métis) is a Professor of Visual Arts at the University of Regina. He is a painter, curator, and writer who engages creative and critical expressions of Indigenous contemporary ways of knowing, being, and doing. In 2023, David Garneau was honoured with the Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Art for Outstanding Achievement and was elected to the Royal Society of Canada. That same year, a retrospective of his work was showcased at Nickle Galleries at the University of Calgary. Garneau’s artwork can be found in notable collections such as the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Canadian Museum of Civilization (Ottawa), The Canadian Parliament, the Mackenzie Art Gallery (Regina), the Remai Modern (Saskatoon), Glenbow Museum (Calgary), City of Calgary, University of Lethbridge, University of Regina, Nickle Galleries (Calgary) and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
